Managing Directors

 

Scott M. Kelley, Managing Director
Chief Executive Officer of Aetos Capital Asia and Aetos Japan

Mr. Kelley is the co-founder of Aetos Capital’s real estate business, Managing Director of Aetos Capital and Chief Executive Officer of Aetos Capital Asia and Aetos Japan.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2001, Mr. Kelley was at Morgan Stanley for 14 years where he led a number of the most innovative and important real estate transactions globally.  At Morgan Stanley, Mr. Kelley was a Managing Director and co-head of Morgan Stanley’s global real estate investment banking group where he was responsible for all international client matters.  He was also a member of the Investment Committees for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund (“MSREF”) I, II and III and the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Special Situations Fund.

Mr. Kelley is a member of the Real Estate Roundtable, McIntire School of Commerce Advisory Board, Pension Real Estate Association, the Urban Land Institute and a former director of the National Multi-Family Housing Council and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.

Mr. Kelley received a Bachelor of Science degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and a Masters in Management with Distinction from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Daniel H. Klebes II, Managing Director
Chief Investment Officer of Aetos Japan

Mr. Klebes is a Managing Director of Aetos Capital and Chief Investment Officer of Aetos Japan.  Mr. Klebes is one of the most experienced international investors in Japanese real estate, having been involved in the purchase of over USD 13 billion of Japanese property and related investments over his career.  He has lived in Japan for over 15 years and is fluent in Japanese.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2004, Mr. Klebes was a Managing Director in the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. (“Goldman Sachs”).  He founded the Tokyo operations for The Whitehall Funds (“Whitehall”), Goldman Sachs’ real estate opportunity fund, headed Whitehall’s operations in Japan from 1997 to 2004 and served as a member of Whitehall’s Investment Committee.  During that time, he led the acquisition of over USD 5 billion in Japanese real estate and real estate-secured loans.  Mr. Klebes joined Goldman Sachs in 1987 in the Investment Banking Division and spent his entire career in real estate.

Mr. Klebes received his Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and his Masters degree from Stanford University.

Harold J. Schaaff, Managing Director
General Counsel of Aetos Capital

Mr. Schaaff is a Managing Director and General Counsel of Aetos Capital.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2001, Mr. Schaaff was a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and the President and a Director of the Morgan Stanley Institutional Open and Closed-End Funds.  Prior to March 2000, Mr. Schaaff was a Managing Director and General Counsel for Morgan Stanley Investment Management.  Mr. Schaaff joined Morgan Stanley in 1989.  Prior to 1989, Mr. Schaaff practiced securities law for Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York.

Mr. Schaaff received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Los Angeles where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a John M. Olin Law and Economics Scholar.

Kenny Tse, Managing Director
Aetos Capital Asia, Head of China Real Estate

Mr. Tse is a Managing Director of Aetos China and Head of China Real Estate.   He is based in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Aetos China in 2007, Mr. Tse was a Managing Director and head of China Property Research at Morgan Stanley where he was responsible for building Morgan Stanley’s China real estate research franchise.  Mr. Tse received the top analyst ranking from Greenwich Associates (2006) and Institutional Investors (2007).   Mr. Tse also led primary and secondary equity offerings by a wide variety of the most prestigious Chinese real estate companies.  Mr. Tse joined Morgan Stanley in 1997 after spending three years at Fidelity Investments.

Mr. Tse received his Bachelor of Agricultural Economics from the University of Sydney with majors in Economics and Applied Finance.

Richard G. Woolworth, Jr., Managing Director
Aetos Capital

Mr. Woolworth is a Managing Director of Aetos Capital and is responsible for a number of its strategic relationships with institutional clients.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital, Mr. Woolworth was with Morgan Stanley for 23 years in both its Investment Management and Investment Banking businesses.  As part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Mr. Woolworth served in various management roles, including Head of the U.S. Institutional Coverage Group, and was responsible for developing strategic relationships with Morgan Stanley’s largest clients.  Prior to joining the Investment Management department, Mr. Woolworth worked in the Investment Banking Department with responsibility for business development with a number of Morgan Stanley’s major industrial clients, and also served as Co-Head of the Private Placement Group.  Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Woolworth worked for five years with Dillon Read & Co.

Mr. Woolworth is a graduate of Dartmouth College, and received a Masters of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.  Prior to pursuing graduate studies, he was a Teaching Fellow at Phillips Academy (Andover, MA).  Mr. Woolworth is currently a Trustee of Groton School and a member of the Investment Committee.  He served for many years as a Trustee of the Morgan Stanley Foundation and also headed the leadership group which founded Trinity Church (Greenwich, CT).

Senior Advisors

Mayree C. Clark, Senior Advisor
Aetos Capital Asia

Ms. Clark is a Senior Advisor to Aetos Capital Asia and a member of its Investment Committee.  She is a professional investor and capital markets specialist.  She serves on the Board of the Stanford Management Company (which manages the University's Endowment).  In 2009 she joined the reconstituted Board of GMAC, following its restructuring by the U.S. Treasury.  She chairs the GMAC Risk Management and Compliance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. 

Ms. Clark was with Morgan Stanley from 1981 to 2005, working in a variety of areas including Investment Banking, Equities, Fixed Income and Retail, and holding positions with increasing leadership responsibility including Deputy to the Chairman, CEO and Management Committee; Global Research Director; Global Head of Private Wealth Management and Chairman of MSCI-Barra.

Jon P. Awong, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Awong is a Director of Aetos China and has been based in Hong Kong since 2006.  He is responsible for asset management activities across Aetos Capital Asia’s non-Japan Asia investments.

Prior to relocating to Hong Kong, Mr. Awong was a senior member of Aetos Japan’s investment team and led Aetos Japan’s pricing and portfolio management functions.  Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2001, Mr. Awong was a member of the acquisitions team at The Blackstone Group’s real estate funds, having sourced and executed on a number of property investments.

Mr. Awong attended the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  He was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa and was also the recipient of the Pinkel Award.

Han Chen, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Chen is a Director of Aetos China and a member of the China real estate investment team based in Beijing.

Prior to joining Aetos China in 2007, Mr. Chen was a Senior Vice President at CDIB Capital Limited, the Hong Kong subsidiary of China Development Industrial Bank of Taiwan (“CDIB”), responsible for sourcing and executing real estate investment transactions.  Mr. Chen joined CDIB from Vantone Real Estate Co., Ltd., a prominent Chinese developer where he was Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Chen also had extensive investment banking experience in Asia and the United States, having worked at BOC International and JPMorgan Chase. 

Mr. Chen received a Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude) from Hope College where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Darren S. Glickman, Director
Chief Financial Officer of Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Glickman is a Director of Aetos Capital and Chief Financial Officer of Aetos Capital Asia. He also provides financial and operational oversight for Aetos Capital’s subsidiaries and operating partners.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2003, Mr. Glickman was a Vice President in the Investment Accounting division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. (“Goldman Sachs”) where he focused primarily on accounting and reporting for private equity real estate partnerships.  Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Glickman was an audit manager in the Real Estate Services division of Deloitte & Touche, LLP.

Mr. Glickman is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State and has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baruch College.

Susan Gong, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Ms. Gong is a Director of Aetos China.   She is based in Beijing and is responsible for asset management activities.

Ms. Gong joined Aetos China in January 2008.  Ms. Gong was previously Vice President of Macquarie Global Property Advisors and Chief Development Officer of Macquarie Property Investment Banking Beijing where she was responsible for acquisitions and investment management, as well as leading the business development activities in Beijing.   Prior thereto, Ms. Gong was Research Manager for First China Property Group Limited within Macquarie Bank in Beijing where her responsibilities encompassed a broad range of real estate-related activities including market research, feasibility studies and project proposals.  Previously, Ms. Gong was an Investment Manager with Beijing Urban Development Group Co. Ltd. where her activities included business development, joint venture structuring, strategic planning and market research.  She successfully led the market positioning and investment analysis related to securing the winning bid for the Olympic Village and National Stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.  Prior to that, Ms. Gong was involved in a variety of feasibility study and planning activities related to real estate and infrastructure projects in China.

Ms. Gong received her Bachelor of Engineering in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning from the Beijing Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering.  She received her Masters of Business Administration from Peking University in Beijing and her Masters of Science in Management of Technology from the National University of Singapore.  Ms. Gong is fluent in English and Mandarin.

James L. Kraus, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Kraus is a Director of Aetos Capital and is responsible for fund portfolio management for Aetos Capital Asia.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2003, Mr. Kraus worked in the Real Estate Principal Investment Area of Goldman, Sachs & Co. (“Goldman Sachs”), working on The Whitehall Funds as a member of their Finance and Administration team.  His primary responsibilities were investor reporting and reporting to senior management on fund performance and risk analysis. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Kraus was an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.

Mr. Kraus graduated from Binghamton University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Kenneth Lau, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Kenneth Lau is a Director of Aetos China.  He is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for sourcing and structuring of new transactions.

Prior to joining Aetos China in 2007, Mr. Lau was a Vice President of Wachovia Bank N.A. in Hong Kong where he was responsible for the negotiation and execution of all real estate transactions in the Greater China region.  Prior to Wachovia, Mr. Lau was a Vice President of Lehman Brothers’ Global Real Estate Group involved in the firm’s real estate activities in the Taiwan and China markets.  At Wachovia and Lehman Brothers, Mr. Lau completed numerous asset and project-level equity investments and debt financings in conjunction with developers and property investors.  Mr. Lau began his career as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers’ Corporate Finance Group serving the advisory and capital raising needs of financial institutions throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Lau received his Master degree in Engineering (Engineering, Economics and Management) from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Thomas Liu, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Liu is a Director of Aetos China.  He is head of Aetos’ Beijing office and responsible for the real estate business in China.

Prior to joining Aetos China in 2007, Mr. Liu was Executive Director and Co-Head of the Mezzanine/Structured Investment Group at China Development Industrial Bank of Taiwan (“CDIB”).  At CDIB, he was responsible for sourcing and executing structured transactions in the real estate sector in Greater China.  Prior to that, Mr. Liu was Chief Operating Officer of He Qiao Group in Beijing overseeing the development and operation of over two and one half million square feet of residential and commercial projects in China.  Before moving to Beijing in 2004, Mr. Liu had been involved in a variety of private equity and real estate-related financial advisory, consulting and acquisition and disposition activities throughout Asia.  He started his career in the Hong Kong headquarters of the Shangri-La Group, working on the development and pre-opening planning for various projects in Southeast Asia and China.

Mr. Liu received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude, and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Food Administration, magna cum laude, from Boston University.  He then received his Masters of Business Administration from the joint executive program of Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Shanghainese.

Gwynne M. Murphy, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Ms. Murphy is a Director of Aetos Capital and is responsible for institutional investor relations and marketing activities related to Aetos Capital Asia.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2006, Ms. Murphy was a Vice President of Lazard Frères Real Estate Investors from 2000 to 2006, responsible for investor relations for its real estate funds.  From 1996 to 2000, Ms. Murphy worked for a European affiliate of Security Capital Group Inc., a global real estate research, investment and management company.  Based in London, Ms. Murphy focused on capital markets and investor relations initiatives in Europe and the United States.  Previously, Ms. Murphy lived in Tokyo from 1989 to 1993. She studied at the International Christian University and spent three years in the International Finance Division of The Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank Limited / Mizuho Corporate Bank.

Ms. Murphy received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University.  She received a Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Asian Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.  She is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association.

Christopher B. Taube, Director
Aetos Capital Asia

Mr. Taube is a Director of Aetos Capital and is responsible for evaluating all non-Japan acquisitions and for a wide variety of investment, fundraising and new business matters.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2007, Mr. Taube was a Principal at Fremont Realty Capital in New York where he was involved in sourcing, closing and managing private equity real estate investments.  Prior to joining Fremont, he graduated from Columbia Business School. Prior to Columbia Business School, Mr. Taube was at The Georgetown Company in New York where he worked on real estate development projects including retail, office and residential.  He started his career at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC as an analyst in the Media and Communications Group.

Mr. Taube received a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia Business School where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma and was a member of the Dean’s Honor List.

Deepak Wadhwa, Director
Aetos Capital

Mr. Wadhwa is a Director of Aetos Capital and is involved in the tax and finance functions related to Aetos Capital and its subsidiaries.

Prior to joining Aetos Capital in 2005, Mr. Wadhwa was a tax manager in the Financial Services division of Ernst & Young LLP where he focused primarily on tax consulting for real estate partnerships, investment partnerships, private equity funds and multi-national corporations.  Prior to joining Ernst & Young LLP, Mr. Wadhwa was a tax senior consultant in the Financial Services division of Arthur Andersen LLP.

Mr. Wadhwa graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.  He also received his Masters of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University with a concentration in Tax.  Mr. Wadhwa is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.
